Hakone Gardens Support Program

Purpose

The Saratoga Sister City Organization has been the principal leadership and organizational force along with the City of Saratoga in the establishment of Hakone Gardens as a premier Japanese Gardens in Hakone's early history. Some of these have included:

  • Kizuna-en -- a friendship bamboo garden
  • Cultural Exchange Center -- a replica of a tea merchant home and shop from Uji, Japan
  • Tea ceremony classes
  • Docent garden tours

Objective

To continue this supportive effort by supporting the housing of Ogata Kai, a group of Japanese garden professionals who travel from Japan to keep the integrity of Hakone Gardens to the true nature of the Japanese spirit.
