Purpose
The Scholarship Program was established in memory of Ed Gomersall, former president of Saratoga Sister City. It was created to help individuals who share a positive interest in the Japanese culture, and wish to pursue studies that promote cultural harmony between the United States and Japan.

 

Objective
This scholarship may be awarded to anyone of any age who is interested in furthering the knowledge of any aspect of Japanese culture -- art, literature sports, handicrafts, music, language, customs, history -- through participation in programs or classes or with a personal study program of any length.
